Spectacular purity… incredible depth… unbelievable flavor…. There are a veritable shit-ton of Cabs made by Napa's 600+ wineries that will pass muster as damn-fine wine. But there are only a few Napa Cabernets capable of blowing our skirts up. Enter the 2019 Caldwell amphora Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fermenting and aging in clay amphorae, instead of oak barrels, allows for the purest expression and true character of your fruit and vineyard without any distraction from the significant flavors imparted by oak barrels. Now, imagine if you will, tasting what that means for Caldwell Cabernet – especially in the hands of the winemaker and Renaissance man himself, Marc Gagnon.

There is a character imparted to our Cabernet unlike any other in the world. Caldwell Vineyard sits in the center of an ancient volcanic caldera, at the southernmost latitude in Napa Valley to ripen Bordeaux varietals. The influence of the soils, drainage, altitude and proximity to the San Pablo Bay make for an almost perfect microclimate, with long hang times and extraordinary flavor development in the fruit.
