2022 Malbec [clone 595]

Big, dark and intense in all the right ways, this is a body builder of a wine… well-defined and straddling the line between being both thick and lean at the same time. Blue and black fruits anchor the flavors while a splash of Cab Sauv and Syrah rounds out the edges to create a wine that is worthy of a very special day or meal. Fans of Caldwell Malbec, please take note… this will be the second to last vintage we ever make of this wine. You see, John made the decision to graft over this unsung hero of the noble wine grapes in order to make room for more Cabernet Franc – a bittersweet decision to be sure, and a reason to love this vintage all the more.

Aging:  100% French oak, 50% new, for 18 months.
